Weather Report

So many faces surround me yet I'm still unfamiliar. Take off your masks. A stranger clinches their coat while passing me. The wind howls through the city's streets & allies, chilling us both. "You dropped your knife" I say. They double back. We speak the same language but we are not of the same brotherhood. A flower pedal falls into a still pond. People laugh but nobody really notices.

We were physically intimate. She got up to walk away, I grabbed her hand & gave her a sharp glance. She pulled away rolling her eyes while walking out of the room. I closed my eyes, expecting to hear the front door slam. The silence was broken by the sound of running water from the kitchen faucet. She returned faster than I had anticipated, a shadowy silhouette with a glass of water in her hand, gently placing it on the night stand. Her body gracefully floats towards the bed. I put my arms around her then covered her with the blanket. Almost close enough to kiss her, I smiled then closed my eyes again. "I love you" she whispered. Then again, nudging me to make sure she had my attention, "I love you". We laughed. I woke up
